In general, it is not famous for being a winter skiing destination surprisingly it offers many great hiking routes in the winter too and the place is not crowded with winter sports tourists. It is not only nature that is incredibly beautiful, but the Appenzell town itself is also very pretty. Appenzell is a picturesque town with colorful gabled buildings that house delicious bakeries, restaurants, hotels, apartments, and museums With its rolling green hills home to thousands of cows the area is well known for its production of Appenzeller cheese but the little villages and towns. It can be found in the northeast of Switzerland, between the Alpstein massif and Lake Constance. The best time to hike in Switzerland is during the summer months from May to September. The temperatures in the mountains are a bit cooler, and during these months, there is usually no snow at these hiking trails. There are a lot of green grasslands and cows, and the landscapes are dreamy. Its population is almost entirely German-speaking, and predominantly Catholic. Its political capital is Appenzell, which is also the largest village, while Weissbad (near it) and Gonten are the best-known goats' whey cure resorts. A faster way is to take an express train from Zurich to Gossau, a satellite village of St. Gallen, and transfer to the local train. Montreux a destination that offers pure enjoyment. This town on the shores of Lake Geneva boasts a magnificent Alpine backdrop, the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival and sights such as Chillon Castle. Just a few reasons why it is often referred to as the Pearl of Lake Geneva. As it's quite a small town, it's easy to see the main sights in just one day in Montreux. I did just that recently and would recommend it. We day-tripped from Geneva, but it's also easy to do this from other Swiss cities, such as Lausanne and Bern.Whether you're in town to sample the local wine or to hit the ski slopes at the surrounding mountains, Montreux has plenty of sights to cram into a 2,3day visit. Lord Byron, Charlie Chaplin, Coco Chanel and Freddie Mercury – all resided, at one point in their lives, in and around the French-speaking region of Lausanne and Montreux, Switzerland. The main VMCV bus line is number 201 and circulates every 10 minutes along the lake, between Vevey and Villeneuve, passing through Montreux. The bus rides are free with the Montreux Riviera Card. Without a doubt, the best way to discover Lavaux, a UNESCO world heritage site. Montreux Riviera has privileged access to the largest and most beautiful basin in Western Europe Lake Geneva. The Zytglogge Clock Tower the Parliament Building and the BearPark – there are many things to be discovered in and around Bern UNESCO-listed old town, cathedral, clock tower, fountains and numerous arcades, Bern is one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities. Historic Charm Bern well preserved medieval old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and wandering its cobbled streets feels like stepping back in time. The Zytglogge clock tower, the Federal Palace, and the iconic Bear Park are just a few of the historical gems that await your discovery. The Rosengarten Rose Garden

Bern, the fourth Swiss city on our list, is the cheapest of the four Swiss locales, as an individual's average monthly living cost is about $2,569. Best time to visit Bern has good weather for visiting most of the year. May to October are the best months, when temperatures can get as high as 86°F (30°C). December through March is much colder, but unlike the more Alpine destinations, Bern rarely gets snow.Put on your snowshoes and immediately immerse yourself in the winter landscapes around Bern. Snow-covered fir trees, untouched snowy ridges and captivating views are waiting for you just an hour or so outside of the capital.Approximately 60% of the Swiss population speak and understand English. In German-speaking areas, many people also speak English. These areas are more of the northern, eastern, and central parts of Switzerland such as Luzern, Bern, Zurich, Basel, and Glarus. *8.ZERMATT

Zermatt, the enchanting mountain village in Valais, is synonymous with the Matterhorn, probably the most famous mountain in the world. Zermatt will amaze you with its beauty in summer and winter. You will also be stunned by the idyllic charm that the village radiates. Its sharply pointed peak attracts visitors from around the world to the Swiss Alps to glimpse it for themselves, and there is perhaps no better place to do so than Zermatt. Not only is this southern Swiss resort town special for its views and ski slopes, but it's also famously car-free. We spent 2,3 days in Zermatt and didn't feel rushed, but that being said if we had had more time we would easily have filled the days with trips up the nearby mountains. Overall we would suggest at least two days in Zermatt would be ideal. Zermatt has a reputation for being one of the most expensive ski areas in Europe. It is certainly true that at CHF 79, which is around € 71 ,as of February 2016, the ski area is certainly considerably more expensive than a day ticket to the large ski areas in Austria. Flying to either Zurich or Geneva airports is the most convenient when getting to Zermatt: they both have twice-hourly train connections to Zermatt from in-airport train stations. It's a mecca for mountaineers and climbers. More people have died climbing the Matterhorn than any other mountain in the Alps, hence why most visitors choose to gaze up at the peak from ground level. Secondly, Zermatt is renowned for its excellent skiing. Best time to visit Zermatt when the weather is warm and the birds are chirping, it may be best to look into a trip between June and September, If skiing is your main draw, December through April offers prime snowy conditions. There are no cars in Zermatt, so it's obviously necessary to travel by train. Comfortable and stress free. Terminus: Zermatt Bahnhofplatz. The train travels straight to car-free Zermatt.
